This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

The newspaper is a luxury around here! I teach freshmen and sophomore students with special needs (mostly learning disabilities) in a south Chicago suburb.

My students are hungry for knowledge with very limited resources in the classroom. They live in a low socio-economic area, and barely can afford basic school supplies.

Weekly Reader offers high-interest articles that will get the students excited about reading and learning! I grew up with Weekly Reader, and even the newspaper is a luxury to them.
