My Students
The students I am requesting funds for are special needs middle school students that come to my Engineering and Technology Class for inclusion. These students spend a majority of their day in a Life Skills classroom. These students diagnoses range from mild learning disabilities or profound cognitive impairment.
Although inclusion of these students can be challenging when added to a classroom of twenty-five or more middle school students, these kids always brighten our day with their unique personalities.
My Project
The special needs students that come to my Engineering and Technology class need the requested LEGO Education WeDo kits so they can participate in activities similar to the regular ed students.
My class uses EV3 LEGO Robotics and VEX robots to teach the engineering standards, however, the material is to complex for the special needs kids.
The WeDo kits will give the kids an opportunity to complete robotic challenges with a paraprofessional's guidance so they will have similar learning opportunities. These kits come with a wonderful self-guided curriculum and software that will stimulate the students' imaginations and challenge them with leveled STEM activities.
