My Students

The advertising art world is a fast paced environment, where concept is king and production is his queen. My classroom is just like that, fast-paced and nonstop, My students keep me on my toes and I keep my students guessing and thinking.

At my school the arts are majors, more than just electives like other high schools.

And students that attend my school audition for the chance to take their talents to an expert level by art professionals. Students at my school are not chosen for their art skills or proficiency solely, but that does help, however students are chosen for their potential, for their capability or aptitude to be great individuals. My students are young open minded individuals, they see the world optimistically, for the most part. My students are emotionally charged, they go through a variety of moods, a lot in just a 40 minute class period. They are sensitive, which makes something hard to tell them, but also shows how much they care and love. My students are truly surprising, they always amaze and rise to the occasion.

My Project

With the use of these textbooks, my students will learn basics web design by doing actual HTML and CSS work and eventually learn some computer coding in Javascript. With the help of this donation my students will be able to learn web design in order to competition in web design competition, help keep the school's website up-to-date and learn a skill that can lead to a career. I as a commercial art teacher, who identifies his self as a modern graphic designer, would like to teach his kids modern day skills or skill that are becoming more prominent. I feel in education, we are always trying to catch up with technology instead of being at the forefront. I want to give my students an education that most of their suburban counterparts already have. In addition to teaching them what is essentially becoming a life skill.

If this project gets fully funded, I will be able to provided my students and my school with the opportunity to learn an advance 21st century skill that many students from well-funded schools have access to.

It is difficult for urban schools to be equipped with proper facilities, let alone any educational materials for 21st century skills that students can use, with the help of donors, I hope to work around that limitation.
