My Project

This project introduces 3rd–5th-grade students to fiber arts through hands-on weaving and textile exploration. Using looms, yarn, and child-safe tools, students will learn basic weaving techniques while exploring color, pattern, texture, and pattern repetition. Fiber arts support fine motor development, focus, patience, and perseverance, making them especially effective for upper elementary learners. Students will plan their designs, problem-solve as they work, and reflect on their creative choices. This project also connects to cultural traditions from around the world, helping students understand how textiles are used for both artistic expression and everyday function in different communities.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
