Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My second grade students need to experience weather and matter to be successful in the classroom and beyond. I want my students to be able to explore matter and weather first-hand. Children need to be able to use materials to fully understand what they are learning. It is a hands-on world. Unfortunately, I do not have the resources to purchase the necessary science equipment myself. With the materials that I am requesting, my students WILL predict weather and experience matter. With the use of these materials students will score better on standardized tests and hopefully their use might inspire a future meteorologist or scientist.
I teach second grade in the largest urban school district in the state of Indiana. Unfortunately, many of my students arrive at my classroom door lacking many experiences that most children take for granted. Poverty in this area is 100%. I teach special education as well as ENL and general education students.
I look forward to the day that I can use these materials to benefit my students. I will use these supplies for many years to come. All 25 of my current students will benefit from their usage.
