I teach twenty-three fourth-graders who are eager to learn. My classroom is not just a place to learn, it is also a place where my students discover that they are able to change the world through the choices and decisions they make in their lives.
The majority of students at my school receive free or reduced-price lunch, meaning they qualify for at least part, if not all, of the cost of their meals to be paid for by the district due to low parent income at home.
Many of my students come from low-income homes and this can negatively impact their ability to learn successfully.
I teach students at all ability levels. I strive to create a classroom where no matter what struggles or successes my students have, it is a success in our classroom. Growth is growth on every level.
This year, we are learning virtually with a few students in the classroom and most at home. My students started a new grade with a new teacher and are doing it through a computer. This year will be a challenge, but one we will be successful with and grow through, together.
My Project
Learning in the middle of a pandemic is difficult. My students at home are having to learn through a computer screen and can hardly interact with each other or the students in the classroom. Meanwhile, the few students in the classroom can hardly see the majority of their classmates who are home and can struggle to see what I am sharing on screen. This television will help them to see their classmates better during our virtual class meetings as well as make it easier for them to see what I am projecting to everyone.
All of my students miss being together, and this television will help my students in the classroom feel like they are closer to the ones at home and help them to see them even better.
Normalcy is not something we have right now, but this will help to bring a little bit of normal (as know it today) back to the few in the classroom.
