Our school district has made national news due to its financial budget crisis. I currently have thirty students in my class. Our school is a Title I school, and all of the students receive free lunch.
My students are from a diverse, urban area.
There are forty languages being spoken in the homes of our students. Most of my students speak another language at home. A number of those families have difficulty assisting their children with homework because they do not understand English. We are not receiving money for supplies from the school district, which makes teaching difficult. Students see school as a safe place where they can rely on predictable routines and are excited about learning. Their hard work motivates me to seek out the very best opportunities for them.
My Project
Have you ever been on an adventure on The Magic School Bus? I grew up loving The Magic School Bus series and would love to share the magic with my students. I only have a couple of copies in our library and they are BEAT! I would love to have an entire bin of these books to share with my students. Magic School Bus books turn what could be a boring science lesson, into a magical adventure. My students enjoy the videos we have watched in class. The books I know would be a huge hit as well.
I would love to make The Magic School Bus books available for my students to enjoy in and out of school.
We no longer have a library at my school. The books that my students have access to are the books from our classroom. Bring Miss Frizzle magic into my classroom with The Magic School Bus series.
