This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are energetic 1st graders who love to learn! Our class is made up of 12 boys and 12 girls. Our small school is a kind and caring learning environment nestled in a neighborhood just outside of downtown Los Angeles. Approximately 70% of our students are considered economically disadvantaged and qualify for free or reduced lunch. Our population is diverse, with students coming from many ethnic backgrounds. We have received the honors of Title 1 High Achieving School and California Distinguished School.
My Project
Our school has recently implemented an online reading program which differentiates reading levels for each individual student. Currently, we have only one iPad in the classroom that can be used by students. Our school has an iPad cart which we can use just one time a week. Some students do not have internet access at home so it is essential that they access their reading program at school.
We need these requested three Samsung Galaxy tablets for students to use in the classroom to help them develop their necessary reading and technology skills.
This way, four children at a time can be working towards their independent reading goals and their development of other skills.
