My Students

I have started a STEM lab for the 5th graders at my school as part of their weekly specials rotation. They are so excited to be learning about science, technology, engineering and math. We work in groups to solve real world problems using creativity, collaboration and communication.

The students in my school are on all different academic and ability levels and are learning how to combine strengths to fully appreciate the process of cooperative learning.

They are so engaged and ready to learn and I am excited at the prospect of giving them engaging hands on learning activities!

My Project

The students will use the Makey Makey Science Kits to learn about the fundamentals of circuits and gain insight into how computers work. The students will invent and engineer everyday objects into touch-pads to combine with the Internet for unlimited uses.

This project will make a difference in student's lives because it is memorable and can be applicable to so many academic areas.

Students will gain confidence working with computers and this will prepare them for the inevitable computer science classes that will come later in life.
