My Students

Our class home includes amazing Special Needs students who are excited to be back in school in person this year. The students are very enthusiastic and love to try new ways of learning. We are so lucky to be greeted by these amazing kids each day who want to give their very best.

The lack of necessities needed to live a safe, comfortable, and healthy lifestyle has not dulled their smiles or desire to learn!

The students live in a low-income community with minimal economic resources. We are a Title I school with over 80% of students receiving free and reduced meals. Although many of our students come from lower-income families, they are bright and inquisitive, handling adversity with astounding grace. They rise to every occasion with grit and determination. My students come to class ready to learn and eager to please by doing their best work.

My Project

The second semester has just started, and we're going strong! We don't ask our families to send in supplies because it is already a struggle for them to get what they need at home. We've found, however, that we need some new pencils and it would be such a treat to have an electric pencil sharpener.

We also celebrate every Friday by dancing as we arrive and would like to have a CD player boombox to take with us wherever we dance!

We love how it puts the students and everyone around in a good mood to start the day and lets them move. They have a ton of energy and it's fun!
