This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In my classroom we currently do not have a pencil sharpener. I have bought dozens of electric ones but none can stand up to the daily routine of sharpening my classroom pencils. Lessons are constantly interrupted by students that do not have a properly working pencil.

The students in my classroom are hardworking kids who always try their best and like to complete their work.

We do live in a low income district and the pencils that the students bring (if any) are of low quality. These types of pencils break easily and without a working sharpener the students are not prepared to work. Some students even try sharpen all the pencils by hand and miss out on lessons to make sure others have a properly working pencil.

My Project

Having two industrial pencil sharpeners will allow my students to always be prepared for class. Students will not have to worry about being prepared for class as I will always have an ample supply of sharpened pencils available. Students will also be able to pay more attention to my lessons instead of worrying about if they have a pencil or if they need to sharpen one.

Having a working pencil sharpener in my classroom will have a huge impact on my day to day routines at school as well as lowering the stress level of both my students and myself.

You never realize how something so little can impact your day. With two industrial sharpeners students will be able to attend to my lessons and I will know that they are prepared to work.
