My students need an iPad and an iPad Case in order to access fun, interactive, educational math websites to help them understand concepts related to financial literacy.
An important skill that needs to be learned and taught at school in 1st grade is identifying and counting money. They need to develop personal finance skills to be able to understand concepts related to responsible spending and money.
I teach a multicultural class of 1st graders in Georgia.
Our school is a Title I public school where the majority of the students are on free lunch. They come from low income families where the parent or parents work to keep a roof over their head and food on the table.
Young children learn faster with visual aides and interactive lessons. Unfortunately, computers are not in their budget at home. The only technology they are exposed to is at school. Due to budget cuts at school there are not enough computers for the children.
My Project
My 1st graders need an iPad to access fun, interactive educational websites and applications that will help them learn how to identify, count, and make change with money. With the iPad, my students will be able to understand concepts related to finances and responsible spending habits that are important to their economic future. They will learn that money doesn't go very far without learning about financial literacy skills. The iPad case will protect the iPad so that it can be used by different 1st grade classes for many years.
Your generous donations will enable my students to have access to a functioning technological device that will give them access to educational websites and applications so that they can become financially literate.
Learning financial skills in 1st grade will help my students make better financial choices in their future.
