We Want To Be Outsiders

My students need 35 copies of "The Outsiders", the movie DVD version, and a study pack to use in our 7th grade literacy class.

My Students

Do you remember what it was like the first time you read a book that you couldn't put down? My students haven't yet reached that point in their school experience, but they have not yet read "The Outsiders".

I teach 7th grade literacy and social studies in a low-income, high-need area of New York.

My classes are a mix of English Language Learners, Special Education and regular education students. My students are motivated to learn when they enter the classroom doors. They like to be challenged, even when they have to work extra hard to meet the challenge.

My Project

I am asking for 35 copies of "The Outsiders" to use in my 7th grade literacy classroom. These books will allow my students to read quality challenging literature and will provide a wonderful reading experience for them. My students are looking forward to 7th grade and the challenges they will be presented with.

With the budget cuts that are facing schools across the country it has become even more difficult to purchase quality literature for our school.

With your donation you will allow New York students to not only read a classic piece of literature, but challenge themselves. With your donation my students may just have their first experience of reading a book that they just can't put down.
