While all of my students live in the same neighborhood, their backgrounds, home language and cultures vary greatly. There are students with special needs, ELL needs, behaviorial needs, and emotional needs. I set high expectations for all of my students and strive to give them quality experiences that they may not otherwise receive. Hands-on experiences are crucial for my students to deeply learn within the classroom.
My students are all excited to learn in fun, engaging, student-centered ways.
My classroom is dedicated to not only teaching my students academics (letters, numbers, colors, shapes) but also incorporating social and life skills (solving disagreements calmly, taking turns, sharing their thinking with others, including others no matter their differences).
My students are hard workers who love to learn about everything using a growth mindset. They add the word "yet" to the end of their sentences when they are faced with a road block. They always embrace the challenge that they need to try hard things in order to make their brains grow.
My Project
My classroom theme is camping and I want to have areas that my students can use that makes them excited to learn! The Teepee tent and green rug will give my students a place to read during centers. They will also use the tent and rug to work when their home table is not a good place for them to do their best work.
Sometimes my students need tools to help them focus.
The fidgets will give them a tool to help them focus on their learning when we are together whole group on the carpet. They will also be available in calm down areas to help them get their bodies regulated and ready to join the group again.
The hall passes will give them a way to safely walk in the hallway that lets other people in the hall know where they are headed. This will make it easier for other adults to steer them in the correct direction quickly.
