When students feel overwhelmed, frustrated, or need a quiet moment, they are able to choose to visit the space and use the tools provided—such as sensory items, soft seating, and visual emotion guides—to help regulate their feelings. One special moment that stood out was when a student independently went to the corner, used a breathing card, and returned ready to rejoin the group. Seeing them build those self-regulation skills has been incredibly meaningful.\r\nWhen the materials were first introduced, students were immediately curious and excited. We spent time learning how to use each item respectfully and talked about why it's important to take care of our feelings. Many students were eager to try the tools and practice calming strategies, and they quickly began to understand that the space is there to support them. It has already helped create a more peaceful and supportive classroom environment where students feel safe and understood.\r\nAs we move forward, we will continue incorporating social-emotional learning into our daily lessons and routines. Students will practice identifying their emotions, choosing calming strategies, and reflecting on their feelings after using the Calm Down Corner. Our goal is to help them build lifelong skills in managing emotions, solving problems, and supporting one another. Your support has made a lasting impact, and we are so grateful for the difference it is making in our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1769192057067,"projectUrl":"project/calm-down-corner/10022611/","projectTitle":"Calm Down Corner","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Sanford","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10404627"},{"teacherId":3191056,"projectId":9839845,"letterContent":"My students have loved having new center activities to complete on fun colored paper. Each week they are curious to find out what color the paper will be. I have found that they are more engaged in their learning than they used to be when the paper was plain white paper.\r\n\r\nThe next step for my classroom is to get some open-ended manipulatives that they can use many different ways to support their learning across the day. I would like to get them some magnetic cubes that they can use to build many different things that tie to the curriculum throughout the school year.","fullyFundedDate":1761934440802,"projectUrl":"project/centered-on-learning/9839845/","projectTitle":"Centered on Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Greve","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3191056_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1720477271319","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/jessicagreve"},{"teacherId":5684553,"projectId":9580385,"letterContent":"Thank you so much in getting these Seat Sacks and Decodable Readers into my students hands.
