My Students

My delightful students are humble, kind, and love to learn new things. They live in an old Irish mill city that has seen its Glory Days pass by. Now, my students come mostly from a Caribbean Island that has been devastated by natural disasters over the last few years. They struggle with poverty, learning a new language, and acclimating to a whole new culture.

To know my students, is to love them.

They are strong, determined and always willing to work hard. During holidays or end-of-the-year days, when many students bestow gifts on their teachers, my students bring me their cherished stuffed toy they have had since birth, or a treasure that their mom brought from the island. They would give you the shirts off their backs if you needed it. I am truly blessed to have spent the past 30 years working with my community. I would never leave and teach in any other type of community. I just wish everyone had the opportunity to spend time with these children and learn from them.

My Project

All students deserve quality learning materials such as paper and pencils! Help us create an atmosphere where learning is celebrated. The world is scary enough for our children. Please help me create a space for students to take risks, grow, and explore. Colored paper, various markers, storage-these are classroom basics we do not have in the public schools. Teachers must buy them ourselves and I appreciate any help for my cherished students. Your kindness will enable students to fill up notebooks with writing, enter an aesthetically pleasing space, have a stool to be the author of the day, and have decent cart to store items.

We love to learn, and we need your support!
