Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students in my fine arts classroom consist of Pre-K through fifth graders. My students have the energy and enthusiasm to explore and create but are lacking the supplies to make their ideas come alive. The community my students come from is primarily low income, and 100% of them receive free breakfast and lunch. These students do not have the much-needed supplies or resources they need to succeed, especially in the fine arts. They have virtually no experience or exposure to any arts at home, whether it be art, theater, or even music.
My Project
My theatre tech students just got an iPad Pro funded by DonorsChoose.org to run all sound for our theatre productions, rehearsals, etc. They set musical cues, take notes, measurements, determine the timing for scene changes, and help create props out of recycled materials. We would use the Apple pencil in conjunction with the applications we use to measure and create our sets and designs.
The use of this iPad Pro Pencil would enhance the Math and Science aspects that go into their tech positions by allowing them to run the 3D design app, take notes, figure out dimensions, and more, directly on the iPad.
Our productions, every year, seek to enhance a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) curriculum.
