This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

Ms. Muller from Brooklyn NY is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need working technology to be 21st Century learners! Right now, Chromebooks are the most cost efficient option, but as a small school, we don't have the budget and we have high needs kids!

We are becoming a Google Apps for Education school. I want my students to be versed in how to best leverage online presence for communication and collaboration.
Our school is a Title I school in desperate need of technology.
Our current laptops are almost 7 years old and in need of replacement.
We are in Brooklyn with a fully integrated Special Education model and technology really helps to differentiate and individualize instruction.
We have 1 chromecart of 30 Chromebooks that has to serve the entire student body. When kids are using computers they are always upset if it isn't the Chromebooks because: "those other ones don't work."
We really need help in updating our equipment!
We are moving into using a personalized learning platform. This means that the students will be able to work at their own pace through curriculum AND will be responsible for their own learning and meeting their own deadlines.
My students deserve as much as any private school student receives, and that includes opportunities like this one!.
In order for us to implement this platform, it will mean that an entire grade will need to be online at the same time. This requires:
1) Each student has a device (we need 60 more minimum)
2) These devices FUNCTION at appropriate speeds
3) The devices are able to run updated versions of browsers and software in order to be compatible with the learning platform.
I would eventually love for our entire school to be a 1:1 school, but until that happens, this will be the stepping stone. Wouldn't you feel more valued if what you had worked? I know I would. Help my kids feel valued and help fund our Chromebooks!
