Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Students need curriculum that connects them with their time. Rock music is the gateway to the thrill of playing an instrument. We are launching an after school program and don't have a working amp for our new drum set and electronic keyboards.They will be silent without this amp!

Our students are street-smart, in a very urban neighborhood with 100% receiving free lunch.

They are up on all the current trends, however, and I have to admit, after grading hundreds of presentations on their favorite song or artist, they have really good taste in music and get what it means. School is the center of all community activity, and these students won't have access to music lessons or instruments outside of class. This means we need to offer it all. Without sacrificing the classics and learning to read music, Rock 'n Roll has the power to transform more when playing it than when it is coming out of an iPod. These kids are gonna rock!

My Project

We have a vibrant classroom and lots of instruments. Our old amp, however, is not working, and this fall, our big guitar solo on Led Zeppelin was silent when the amp refused to work at the big halftime show! We need to share the talents of our students by providing the equipment needed to sound out in a large space. All the students gather on the quad twice a day for nutrition and lunch. This amp will help electrify the student body when our rock bands play. Hopefully, the great sound will bring more and more students to music as a class so they all learn to express themselves and be a part of something positive.

Donating to this project ensures that the music will sound for years to come.

Thanks to Jimi Hendrix, the power of the electric guitar was born. Rock music has never been the same and amps make it all happen. Bass, keyboard, and even the new electronic drum sets all need to be "amped." Let's make some noise for the next generation of rockers.
