This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have the pleasure of teaching 24 super smart first graders. Unfortunately, my students come from a high-poverty, low socioeconomic community. Ninety-nine percent of my students qualify for free breakfast and lunch. Despite these circumstances, my children are full of spirit and have positive attitudes toward learning. They absolutely love coming to school.
These first graders come in each morning with hugs and big smiles on their faces.
They are eager to learn and love for me to teach them new things. I want to make their learning experiences as meaningful and fun as possible.
My Project
My students have very little at home, so coming to school, I want them to have everything they need to be successful students. We are asking for basic school supplies.
Pencils, binders, notebooks, paper, index cards, and dry erase markers will help my little first graders through the rest of the school year.
Most of my students don’t mind sharing supplies, but when they have their own school supplies, they seem to do better work. They take very good care of their supplies if they know that these supplies belong to them. First graders use these supplies every day, so we always need to replace pencils, notebooks, binders, index cards, and dry erase markers. Please consider a donation to our classroom project.
