This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
It is a blessing to walk into classrooms and see eager smiling faces. I work at a Title I school in Virginia that is predominately African American. Every child receives free breakfast and lunch. The challenges that some of the students face at home are unimaginable for adults to comprehend. Every year, at least half of the students have experienced some type of trauma during the course of their lives. However, they are very courageous young people who persevere through the many challenges and traumas that they have experienced in their lives.
Despite all of the negativity that may be in their lives, they continue to come to school every day and learn.
They are eager to learn and enthusiastic about the possibilities of the school year.
The possibilities for my students are endless. It is my job to get them closer to their dreams and aspirations. They are truly amazing young people with bright futures.
My Project
The two HP Chromebooks will add to the lack of technology that’s available in our school. There are a plethora of websites that will allow my students to practice their Math and Reading skills. My students love technology and are eager to engage in lessons and activities. This is a technology-savvy generation. Knowing that, they are more interested and excited about learning when technology is involved. There are videos, animations, games, and websites that will engage students in all academic areas.
As we work to increase student achievement, we need to present our students with a variety of learning experiences through the use of Chromebooks.
Technology is the avenue to those experiences. Please help us add technology into our classroom.
