These kids come to school every day, some dealing with personal problems and issues that they shouldn't have to deal with at their age, some crying out for attention in a negative way, not knowing how to do so in a positive way. These kids crave attention and affection, and we as a school staff want to provide an environment where they receive that positive attention, affection all while establishing a structured, working environment as well. Our school has made a commitment to do everything we can to help grow, and shape our community's future, which we do.
These students will be able to continue on with their lesson virtually through recommended websites through their teachers, instead of continually reading books. Our classrooms are not yet at the level technologically to meet their needs as learners. This grant will help to close that gap just a little bit more. These resources will also be able to virtually tutor and assist students who might need the extra help in a certain area of study, also help them with project and experiments they may need to participate in when they are not in the classroom. With the iPads students will be able to go on education based websites to continue with what they are working on in their own individual classrooms. I could download apps for various math practice skills for a math center, which would allow me to have activities for both my highest performing and most struggling students.
Not only that , they will be able to monitor their own progress and be able to make decision on what they need to work on during free-time, in the morning before announcements of waiting for dismissal.
Projects, online assignments, or even extra assistance will also be available. The headphones will be for the child to solely focus on what is going on in front of them while on the iPads so they will not be distracted, by peers or what going outside of my office. The Otterboxes will be used to protect from any damages so that this technology will be available for other students and for many years to come. This is the generation of technological learners so we need to make sure they have the tools to succeed.
