This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from very diverse backgrounds with five different languages, cultural and socioeconomic differences.

My classroom is an inclusive one in that, I have students with a variety of needs (several students with IEPs). Several are English language learners (ELLs). Most are low income and high poverty. Preschool is the perfect time for children to fall in love with school. Students learn better when what they are learning is meaningful, is different and they are guiding their learning through experiences.

My Project

Preschool is the foundation of a successful future. Students learn many things in preschool most importantly they develop basic self care skills. These skills include the ability to access and clean up their materials. For children to be successful with this skill they need to have an amount of material that is not too overwhelming available to them. When we limit the amount of materials that are placed at the centers students are able to access them on their own then store them neatly.

Smaller storage containers help students increase self sufficiency, increasing confidence.

Currently, we have tubs that are to big for our shelves making finding and putting away the materials for each task difficult and overwhelming. We are asking for storage containers that store the adequate amount of material to make the tasks more enjoyable instead of overwhelming.
