Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students at my school come from a low socioeconomic background, wherein 90% of them qualify for free or reduced meals. The population consists of mostly Hispanics, from countries like Cuba, Puerto Rico, Honduras, and several others.

As a teacher in a low-income community, I am trying to keep my students interested in the sciences by mixing the use of technology and hands-on, real life experiences.

Some of the students in my classes suffer from Attention Deficit Disorder (ADHD), and/or are ESL students (English as a Second Language). Regardless of these challenges, my students are very determined to succeed in school and life.

My Project

Every class in every school uses basic supplies on a regular basis. Sometimes these needed supplies are not readily available. They are scarce and very much needed.

Basic supplies are an integral part of everyday school life, without them the students are not prepared to learn.

Copy paper is important for all the work we do, scissors are needed for the students to participate in hands on activities, as well as the brass fasteners to create in class projects. Cleaning supplies are need in order to keep our desks and classroom clean and free from germs to promote a healthy school year.
