My students live and attend school in the poorest congressional district in the country, but that doesn't mean that they shouldn't have the basic things most students take for granted having access to in school.
My students all come from families with extremely low socioeconomic status.
They all get free breakfast and lunch at school because many of them go home to apartments with no food, and some of them go home to homeless shelters. In spite of the economic hardship they face everyday, my students are intelligent, lively, and eager to learn. Many of them understand that an education will help them to get out of this neighborhood.
My Project
The supplies we are asking for are of such a basic nature that teachers and students in most schools would take them for granted, but for my students, things like tissues to blow their noses, paper towels, glue sticks, ink, file folders and construction paper are luxuries that cannot always be afforded.
These supplies will have such a large impact on my students.
Something as simple as not having to run to the bathroom to use toilet paper when they have runny noses will make such a difference in our classroom, and construction paper for our projects is something we actually get very excited over! We really appreciate any donation you can make to help us out.
