My Students

What's an ebook or an app? Help young students to gain the technology edge they need to be successful in the world today.

I teach 21 second graders in a rural area in Texas.

Most of my students are from low income homes and our school is high poverty school. They are eager to learn about new technology, but most don't even have a computer in their home. My school does not get technology money and our computers are old dinosaurs. We need new technology to keep us up to date in the technology world.

My Project

My students would love to have an iPad 2 because they would be able to read ibooks at their level. Having an iPad 2 the students would enable them to investigate math concepts and applications. By incorporating technology into the classroom, students will be provided with the necessary skills needed in the 21st century. With the economy being the way that it is, it's difficult for schools to provide adequate technology for their students. My students will be able to incorporate technology in problem solving and increasing their reading skills. With an iPad 2 in the classroom, my students will be excited about learning. Research shows that when students are engaged and excited about something they are more likely to retain the knowledge they obtain.
