Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My school is designated Title One, and the socioeconomic level qualifies the school and all the students for free breakfast and lunch. The teachers are dedicated, committed, and educated professionals who share their hearts and pocketbooks with the students! The teachers have stayed through COVID and the challenges of post-COVID behavioral, academic, and financial cuts, working long hours despite financial challenges, larger classes, and limited supplies. Many of us, myself included, teach intervention programs, lead clubs, and mentor students, giving back to the community we love daily. The only way to describe our school is one with a strong leader as a principal and a staff with huge hearts and passion to make a difference. When asked how many students we have in our classes, many of us say five hundred and fifty! We all look out for each other, share supplies, and call each other a family! This year, the supply budget is running low, and it is only January!

I am writing this proposal in hopes of restocking my empty shelves!

I have my own thirty students, my ELD class of thirty students, and my after-school program to supply for. Like my amazing colleagues, I  open my cupboards to my team when needed, as they do theirs! Our families are doing the very best they can and providing all the supplies they are financially able to, yet it is just not enough. I am asking for help to restock my shelves with classroom supplies, snacks, and health supplies. I am also requesting new, fresh literature books to freshen up my library which has yet to be done in over five years! I promise all will go to the children, which will be deeply appreciated!
