Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work for a title 1 school. These students come from all ranges of socioeconomic backgrounds. Our school offers free breakfast and lunch to all of our students due to the huge need. Some kids aren't able to buy all of their supplies. I am very fortunate to be able to have access to supplies for the students so that if a child does come without things they won't have to stress about finding the way to get it.
My students always come so eager to learn, and read, and get as much from the school day as they possibly can.
This is what makes teaching so much fun, seeing these kids throughout the week grow and learn from the beginning to the end of the school year.
My Project
We, as teachers, struggle to pull resources for guided reading, especially when what we planned on using is already being used by another teacher. My classroom needs guided reading books at various levels to help students who are not all on the same reading level. It would be so beneficial to have my own library of guided reading books so that I know what to plan around.
Kids become more excited about learning when it has to do with something they love.
The books I have chosen have proven to be titles that students know, love, and want to read. The book totes are essential for any classroom I feel that sends books home. We have a vast amount of books for students t read at home. These bags help so much with keeping our classroom books protected and allowing students to be responsible of their own materials.
