This will be my seventh year teaching in early childhood education. This will be my third year teaching Kindergarten. What I love about teaching Kindergarten is their eagerness to learn, and to try new things!
I believe that early childhood education creates the foundation for a child's future education.
I teach in a Title I school, so my students come from a variety of backgrounds. Some of which get to experience more than others. It is my goal as an educator to create memorable experiences for each of my students, so they can expand their knowledge of the world around them, and create a love for learning! My Kindergarten students love hands on and engaging activities that challenge them to use critical thinking to find solutions. They thrive in using technology, which is crucial in our world today.
Nothing makes my teacher heart happier than to see one of my students have an "ah-ha!" moment, and to see their confidence grow!
My Project
Having a kidney table in our classroom would give my students the space they need to work in small groups. My assistant and I work in small groups with our students several times through out the day.
Our students need a table to write, manipulate objects, and create!
At our small group tables students work on differentiated skills. During our small group time students receive help or enrichment in both Math and ELA skills.
Currently we work at a small rectangle table that does not give our students enough room to do their work. Many times students are bumping elbows, or we have to split up our groups with some sitting on the floor or at another table which makes it difficult for students to stay engaged. Having a large kidney table would give our students the space they need to help enhance our students' learning!
