I printed out a reading passage that had 3 different levels but looked the same (other than the number of words and the difficulty of the words). The lower children were so excited to have the same assignment as the other students and the top kids were happy to be challenged. Meeting the needs of all students is the key to individual success, and your donations made that possible. For many students in my classroom, these are the only books they have access to outside of our school library, which is shared by the whole school, so chapter books on their level are often limited. \r\n\r\nThe DogMan books have been a huge hit with the whole class and I have a waiting list going so each student who wants to read them gets a turn. When the packages started coming in the children got more and more excited. Each of these items are important to make learning to read fun. Everyone was begging to read with the pointers, play the sight word game, and use the tweezers to pick up different objects.\r\nFind motor is so hard for five-year-old children, and those tweezers have made practicing fun. The pointers have helped the students stay on the word that they are actually reading rather than getting ahead or behind with their fingers. I have never heard so much cheering going on when practicing sight words then when they were playing this game. We worked on writing shapes, writing numbers and upper and lower case letters. They kept saying this is so much fun.
