This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Trenton, New Jersey, is (and this is amazing!) a sanctuary city. Students from nations all over the world immigrate to Trenton with their families. The city, although economically poor in many areas, is rich in cultures and heritage from all corners of the world. We have a growing population of Hispanic immigrants, most speaking their native language Spanish. Many of our students, both native and non-native to Trenton, struggle to meet basic classroom needs each day. This means that it is extra important for us to ensure they have a classroom filled with essential items and care materials they can access at any time. Their social-emotional well-being depends on knowing that they are cared for, loved, and respected.
The items I am requesting will provide our freshmen learners with chapsticks to use during the school day.

These items will go a long way in ensuring our students feel cared for and celebrated, which will support their social-emotional learning. I am requesting these items for students to care for their mental health and personal wellness during the school day.
