As a teacher working with students who come from low income households, I am committed to make a difference in their school life. Many students have challenging lives at home and come to school to learn and have fun. The school gives children like the ones in my classroom an opportunity to learn, have fun, and succeed in school.
My students learn best through hands-on activities and play.
I love watching my students being scientist at work, artist making creations, readers looking at books, writers expressing their thoughts, and so much more. The children are building on their social skills and school readiness skills all day long.
My Project
My children can only use the gym 2 days a week during inclement weather. The other 3 days we have to use the hallway. We are running out of ideas to keep the children interested. One thing that I have noticed is that my children love yoga. I found different yoga activity card that the children would enjoy. I also am requesting movement cards that we can use in the hallway.
Yoga is beneficial in more ways then one!
It helps calm the children down when they are getting over energetic and it helps my young students become aware of their breathing and when they need to stop and take a break.
There are two other materials being requested to use in between beginning yoga and ending yoga. I think the student would enjoy the giant egg race and partner parachute play. Both are small enough to use safely in the hallway.
