This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our school is a school of International Studies. It is located in a thriving community within Indianapolis. With students being one to one with technology they love to show what they can do with their devices and how they can use the device to support their learning.
My students are an amazing bunch of kiddos who come from a variety of cultural and economic backgrounds.
They truly enjoy opportunities to learn, be creative, be hands on, and collaborate with their classmates.
My Project
Reading is an enormous part of 3rd grade. My students love reading especially when they read books they have chosen and are aloud to relax around the room to do so. They also love our read-aloud time, where I choose a chapter or picture book with meaning and read it out loud. We always have classroom discussions that support their understanding of the text as well as connecting what we read to our own lives.
My students need books that we can add to our classroom library.
Books that capture their attention and at the same time can tie into our lives as well as the curriculum across many subject areas. We need books to reach all learners and ensure that the love of reading continues well beyond our 3rd grade classroom!
