STEM occupations are becoming the fastest growing field in todays global economy. With technology all around us it is becoming increasingly important for users to understand the how and the why technology around us works. Having activities that facilitate real-life implementation of STEM can pull together the idea that what they are learning can and will benefit our society and our world. Divided into small groups my students will be able to utilize these materials to gain hands-on age appropriate experience with science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) tools. With Ozobots students will be able to work hands-on with programming, math and science. By using colored pathways students can command this tiny robots to move around as they so choose. Bloxels allows students to program and play their very own video game. Students will use the game board to arrange colored blocks and create their game. At the same time they are using the game board to create they will use Kindle Fire tablets to preview and adjust their board. Eventually they will be able to play the game that they themselves have programmed. Snap Circuits is a hands-on electricity kit in which students will learn how circuit boards work and how energy travels. Bloxels, Ozobots, and Snap Circuits support problem solving and creative thinking in the classroom. These are exciting and engaging ways in which students are to be able to learn and have fun at the same time. With no budget other than the money that comes from my pocket I can only do so much. Please help me to get my students materials that I know will engage and push them to think of the world of possibilities just at their finger tips.
