My Montessori classroom consists of 24 students ranging in age from 3 to 6 years old. They love coming to school every day and learning new things! Each student comes from a very different background. Students start in my classroom when they are only 3 years old. They stay with me for 3 years before moving on to first grade.

My Project
These leveled texts will help my students grow into independent readers as we conduct guided reading in our classroom. Students will also be able to access these texts during our work time. These books will also be sent home in their reading take home bags.
The Movable Alphabet was developed by Dr. Montessori when she realized that children had the mental capacity to analyze the sounds in words way before they could synthesize them.
The former is what we do when we write, while the latter is how we read. During a child’s first year in a Primary environment, we spend a lot of time playing Sound Games, which help children understand that words are composed of sounds. The movable alphabets requested will be used continuously throughout the day and year.
