Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Please, please help us!!! We just don't have ANY science materials. All of my students have special needs. Despite these challenges, they love to learn! They appreciate hands- on activities and truly get excited for science class. Help me give them the learning experiences that they deserve.
My students range in ability but all are special needs.
This includes autism, Down's syndrome, and cerebral palsy. They are high spirited and energetic little buggers that love coming to school. Despite their limitations, many have shown progress and an eagerness to learn and participate in all realms. For many, school is their sanctuary from some very disheartening conditions on the home front. They love my science class as it gives them an opportunity to be infused within the lesson and appeals to all levels of their senses.
My Project
Currently, we have not one science tool in our school! It is deplorable. Most of the materials I use are purchased from my own personal funds. I can only keep this up but for so long. The resources that I am requesting would help my science class come to life! A microscope could help make them aware of the smallest values of life and their connection to it. A tablet would be great for the physically impaired and my visual learners. Since it is touch screen, many of my students would have an easier time manipulating its functions as opposed to other traditional education tools. There are applications for science, Internet videos on a wide range of topics, and a camera that can be used to record our chemistry/ cooking activities.
My students and I would be thrilled and grateful for this opportunity.
It is my duty to give them what they deserve. My students have taught me what it is like to persevere through challenges and exude greatness. I should be able to do the same for them.
