My Project

Children's books are an important part in developing the literacy development in kids. Having a diverse library collection in our classroom is very important. We need to take into different factors, such as race and class. I feel that these books will foster a love of reading for my students, while also affirming students' identities and exposing them to the values and viewpoints of others. Research found that classrooms with diverse classroom libraries helped increase student reading scores and students spent more time reading. A diverse classroom library will allow my students to see themselves in stories.
