Mrs. Doughty from Worcester MA is requesting Educational Kits & Games through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need a Lakeshore Preschool Puzzle Library with Rack and Alphabet Sounds Picture Puzzles for a puzzle center in our Preschool.
My school is an inner city elementary school that is home to 650 students. Eighty percent are high needs students. Forty-five percent are English Language Learners. Fifty-four percent are classified as low income. Thirty-four percent have special needs. Our school contains the SAIL program for students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
My classroom is a sub-separate preschool for students identified with Autism Spectrum Disorders whose degree of challenges require that they remain in an alternative setting.
All of my beautiful, charming and hardworking students have different needs and goals. They brighten my day the minute they pass through our classroom door. I want to do all I can to help them succeed and shine.
Puzzles are fun but they are a remarkable resource for numerous preschool developmental skills. They help increase hand-eye coordination, gross and fine motor skills, cognitive skills, memory, shape recognition, problem solving, emotional skills (setting goals and patience) social skills and content skills.
We need puzzles of varying difficulty, that are sturdy and safe in our preschool.
The Lakeshore Preschool Puzzle Library with Rack includes 24 high-quality wooden puzzles that range in difficulty from 5 to 12 chunky pieces that are perfect for beginning to advancing students. They have safe, rounded corners that are perfect for preschoolers. They are bright and colorful and teach colors, numbers, literacy and science concepts. I am also asking for Alphabet Sounds Picture Puzzles and Rack to help my students build alphabet skills. The 26 puzzles each have object names printed right on the puzzle board, with the target letter highlighted, so as children fit the pieces into place, they practice sounding out words and increase vocabulary. These puzzles also have safe, rounded wooden edges and will last for years.
My students all have different learning styles and levels of development so these puzzles will help meet the needs of all of my students. A puzzle center would not only be fun but beneficial for all of them.
