This year is my 21st year in education. It is a blessing to spend my days at this beautiful community school in the spectacular mountains of Western North Carolina. My drive to work is full of beautiful landscapes. My school is kindergarten through fifth grade, with fewer than 150 students.
We may be small, but our dreams are big.
The community is deeply invested in the education and nurturing of each student. Economic status does not provide a barrier to learning; instead, it provides a challenge this school accepts on a daily basis. With your help, we can give these deserving students everything they need!
My Project
We love our outdoor learning space, but we need some fun seating options. Soon we will have a new concrete patio near our outdoor learning area. Currently, we only have wooden benches, and some of these have started to rot. The hammock chairs and stands will be perfect for special reading spots. We hope students will sit on the hammocks and read or write in their journals while others are exploring and enjoying the outdoor learning opportunities. I know how much our students love sitting in various types of chairs in the classroom so I can only imagine how much they will love these outdoor hammock chairs with stands.
