My Students

My 24 TK/K students are willing and able to learn but need the best experiences to broaden their horizons. We are a Title I school, and most of my students have not been to a school. I am planning to add flex seating to my classroom to make reading time the year's focus. My students are 4 and 5-year-olds that have short attention spans but a thirst for knowledge.

We are developing lifelong learners and global citizens.

Comfortable students are calm, focused, and productive. Students learn better when they have a chance to work together. Traditional desks in rows isolate students from each other. As they gain knowledge and feel empowered, the greatest gift I can give them is seeing what learning opportunities are available.

My Project

These books will continue to enhance the print-rich classroom that I strive to create. My classroom library will be a place that my students can really enjoy. I will be reading on the carpet to them for the first time in person! Every student book that is placed in my library is treated with love and care, and I thankful for the opportunities they will have to read. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind. I have watched on line and waited for them these past nine months of school to read titles just like these, and I have also asked them what type of books they would enjoy reading. Students will be able to choose books, which will help them continue to enjoy independent reading time as well.
