At this early stage, students are building foundational skills in reading, writing, and math, and technology allows me to reinforce these skills through multiple modalities. For example, students use classroom iPads to practice phonics, letter recognition, and early math concepts through structured, research-based programs. These programs provide immediate feedback, allowing students to recognize mistakes and try again independently. This instant feedback is powerful because it builds confidence and encourages persistence. Instead of waiting for correction, students are actively involved in their own learning process.\r\n\r\nTechnology also supports my English learners in a very intentional way. Many of my students benefit from hearing language modeled clearly, and the use of headphones allows them to focus on sounds, pronunciation, and vocabulary without distractions. Audio-supported lessons, visuals, and interactive activities help bridge language gaps and make content more accessible. This aligns with how I implement Universal Design for Learning (UDL), providing multiple means of representation, engagement, and expression. Students are not just listening—they are seeing, touching, and interacting with the content, which deepens their understanding.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting aspects of the new technology is how it promotes independence and student ownership. Each student uses a barcode name tag to log into their learning apps, which gives them a sense of responsibility and pride. Even at a young age, they feel empowered navigating their own learning tools. The addition of headphones has made a noticeable difference in their ability to stay focused and fully engage in activities such as listening to stories, practicing phonics, or completing math tasks. It creates a more personalized learning environment where each student can work at their own pace.\r\n\r\nStudents are especially excited about the interactive, game-like features of the programs. Learning feels fun and motivating rather than repetitive or overwhelming. They often ask to continue working on their activities because they enjoy the challenge and the immediate rewards built into the system. This excitement translates into increased time on task and stronger skill development. Additionally, the playdough we received complements the technology beautifully. After engaging with a digital lesson, students can apply their learning in a hands-on way, such as forming letters or numbers. This combination of digital and tactile learning strengthens retention and supports different learning styles.\r\n\r\nThere are particular students who have especially benefited from this new technology. Some of my students who struggle with attention during whole-group instruction become highly focused when working on the iPads. The interactive format captures their interest and allows them to engage without feeling overwhelmed. I have also noticed that quieter or more hesitant students are more willing to take risks when practicing independently through technology. For example, one student who was initially reluctant to participate in reading activities now actively engages in phonics practice on the iPad. Over time, this confidence has carried over into whole-group participation, where the student is now more willing to answer questions and share ideas.\r\n\r\nOverall, technology is not replacing instruction in my classroom—it is enhancing it. It allows me to differentiate instruction, support diverse learners, and create a more engaging and inclusive environment. My students are not only building academic skills but also developing confidence, independence, and a love for learning.","fullyFundedDate":1764359240251,"projectUrl":"project/confidence-builders-in-kinder/9925114/","projectTitle":"Confidence Builders in Kinder","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Pascual","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10062000_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1750698482800","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10062000"},{"teacherId":10062000,"projectId":9428484,"letterContent":"The new materials have quickly become an essential part of our daily learning. During our math centers, students have been using the manipulatives to build numbers, solve addition problems, and work together on hands-on tasks. One moment that stood out was when a group of students used the manipulatives to create their own \"math stories,\" proudly explaining their thinking to each other. The colorful, smelly markers and Expo markers have also made our writing and whiteboard practice much more engaging—students are excited to participate just so they can choose their favorite scent or color!\r\n\r\nTheir reactions were priceless! Students were thrilled when they saw the Pringles and gummies, and many of them immediately asked if we were celebrating a special occasion. The smelly markers were a huge hit, too. Students were laughing, sharing scents, and couldn't wait to start drawing and writing with them. The manipulatives sparked instant curiosity, and the disinfecting wipes reassured them that we can keep our classroom clean and safe together.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to continue using the manipulatives to deepen math understanding through hands-on exploration and problem-solving. Students will also be using the Expo markers and smelly markers in our literacy and writing stations to support phonics practice, sentence building, and quick whiteboard checks for understanding. We are incredibly grateful for your generosity. Your support truly makes a difference in our classroom. These materials bring joy, excitement, and meaningful learning opportunities to my students every single day. Thank you for believing in them, investing in their growth, and helping us create a classroom where students feel valued, supported, and inspired. Because of your kindness, my students and I now have chair pockets and a 10-drawer organizer that have completely transformed how we learn and stay organized each day.\r\n\r\nWhen the chair pockets first arrived, the students' faces lit up with excitement. Many of them immediately asked, \"Are these really for us?\" They were thrilled to have a personal place to keep their books, journals, and supplies. Before we had the chair pockets, our desks and tables were often cluttered, and students would spend extra time searching for pencils, crayons, and notebooks. Now, each student has a spot that belongs to them, which gives them a sense of pride and responsibility. It has been wonderful watching them take ownership of keeping their space neat and ready for learning. One student even told me, \"Now I feel like a big kid with my own space.\" Moments like that remind me just how meaningful these resources are.\r\n\r\nThe 10-drawer organizer has been just as impactful. We use it every single day to hold center materials, math manipulatives, and art supplies. Before, I had to keep these items stacked in boxes, which made it harder for students to access them independently. Now, everything is labeled and within reach, which has made transitions between activities so much smoother. Students love being able to grab the materials they need without waiting for me to pass everything out, which gives us more time for hands-on learning.\r\n\r\nRecently, we started a literacy project where students are writing and illustrating their own mini-books. Thanks to the chair pockets, students keep their writing folders and pencils handy, so when it's time for writing, they can get started right away. The organizer holds our crayons, markers, and colored pencils, so students can easily add illustrations to their stories without wasting time searching for materials. This simple improvement has made writing time a calm and focused part of our day.\r\n\r\nThese resources are helping me teach my students organizational skills that will serve them far beyond this school year. They are learning to put away materials properly, share supplies respectfully, and take care of classroom tools. I've noticed fewer lost items and much smoother transitions between lessons, which means more time spent engaged in meaningful learning.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has made our classroom a more efficient, organized, and joyful place to learn. My students feel proud of their classroom and empowered to be more independent. I am deeply grateful for your support and investment in their education. Thank you for helping create a space where students can thrive and reach their full potential.","fullyFundedDate":1750774667776,"projectUrl":"project/bright-beginnings/9428814/","projectTitle":"Bright Beginnings","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Pascual","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10062000_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1750698482800","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10062000"},{"teacherId":10038481,"projectId":9402266,"letterContent":"My students have truly benefited from this space as a place to regulate their emotions, reflect, and become inspired through reading and imaginative play. I often see them laying on the fuzzy green carpet, resting on the SEL pillow, and hugging plushies, fully immersed in calm and focus. The hand manipulatives have also become an essential tool, helping students refocus when they struggle with attention.
