My Students

I work with the youngest scholars in an urban preschool setting. My students are 3, 4, and 5 years old and come from a variety of cultures and family backgrounds. 78% of the students at my school qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. I work with typically developing students as well as those with a wide variety of special needs.

Most of my students have speech, language, and communication impairments.

Some are learning English for the first time. I also have students with special needs including autism, motor concerns, sensory concerns, and those who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing.

My Project

My students absolutely LOVE the listening center in our classroom. At least, they used to. Unfortunately, our CD player is not very reliable. Our headphones are breaking due to wires getting tangled. A new CD player with bluetooth and a set of wireless headphones will allow my students to love using the listening center once again!

My students love listening to stories, but parents are busy and my students don't always have access to books at home.

I read to my students every day. I love exposing them to lots of different literature each day. The listening center is a wonderful part of our classroom. It allows those students who want to listen to more stories to listen to their hearts content.

Many of my students have special needs. Headphones with wires simply get in the way. The wireless headphones will reduce their frustration and increase their independence as well as make the area neater, as there are no wires to get all tangled up! Listening to stories will once again be an enjoyable activity in the classroom.
