We Love Computers! Combat Overcrowding With Another Machine

My students need another computer to take advantage of adopted online curriculum and to reduce the competition for our limited student workstations.

My Students

We have wonderful resources available to us that correlate to each math topic in our adopted curriculum. I'd love to be able to use this resource which we have already purchased. The program includes the ability to track student progress and assign appropriate differentiated curriculum.

My 20 students speak 7 different languages.

I have 17 students that have another language at home. Many of these students would benefit from extra practice with math vocabulary. Using this online resource would allow my students to practice essential vocabulary in a low-stress environment. We also use Rosetta Stone for EL support. My students could use this workstation to access their accounts and practice their English language skills. Students could also access their Accelerated Reader and Math accounts from this workstation and increase their reading comprehension and math fact automatically.

My Project

Right now, I often have a long waiting list for computer station time. I have tried many creative time-use plans to maximize our current resources but our need for an additional workstation cannot be denied. Additionally, I would better be able to work computer time into our independent work time rotation, if I had more stations available.

The workstations we have now are dinosaurs-- cast offs from another time and place.

I'd like to have at least one "modern" computer so my students can access the most recent software and websites. Your contribution to our classroom will greatly impact our ability to introduce this new generation to current technology and improve their ability to become 21st century learners.
