My Project

My name is Mrs. Anthony and I am the Visual Art Teacher at a school where I have worked for 28 years! Our school serves 538 scholars and I teach everyone! For 27 of the 28 years, I have taught ceramics to first through fifth grade.

This year has been a sad year because the kiln that I used became too old and deteriorated to safely fire.

Our old kiln was donated in 1996 and was used when we got it. Unfortunately, my budget did not afford a new kiln and so we have not done any ceramics.

My school has 130 multi-language learners in addition to 150 scholars that receive Tiered Supports. We are pretty low on the socioeconomic scale. My scholars (particularly the older ones) were deeply disappointed about a suspended ceramics program. They have seen each year's projects and were excited to create with clay.

I would be forever thankful for this donation. It would bring back the tradition of a ceramic program to our school. Thank you.
