How can students succeed without the appropriate resources? As a teacher in a Title I school in downtown Manhattan, we have a large population of special education, low income and English Language Learners students in our class. We want them to learn through multiple means so that they can become great readers, writers, and mathematicians!
Most of my students are eligible for free lunch due to their socioeconomic status.
Many of our students have ADHD, learning disabilities, and speech impairments. We want to prepare these students for the future and give them the same opportunities that other New York City children can afford.
My Project
My kindergarten through fifth grade students love to read. The problem is, our library isn't full. We want new titles and new books to read so that there are interesting books for everyone.
My students love books.
My students especially love NEW books. Who doesn't love the feel of a brand new book in your hand. After inheriting a new classroom, I also inherited all the teachers old, yellow books. Help my students get the books they love.
All students deserve to love to read, even if they are from low income non-English speaking families. Help my students grow their love of learning and reading.
