My Students

My kids just LOVE listening to books! There is nothing like seeing their little eyes and minds so engaged in learning! Their own CD players and books on CD would heighten their exposure and love of early literacy!

My children are in K4 and all 30 of us fit inside one classroom!

We are at a low income school and unfortunately in a district that is very short on money. This is only my third year of teaching, so unfortunately I don't have all of the supplies I would really like to provide for them either. The children are all eager to learn though, and I would like to provide them with a fun, exciting, different way to learn.

My Project

At center time we love looking at books but at this age books get a bit boring after a while. They love listening to me read, but at center time they need something more independent that will keep them engaged. A listening center would be an engaging and exciting center for their early love of literacy.

My project is so important because I want to expose my children to as much literature as possible in the time they are at school.

Many of them do not have that much literature to read at home, so I feel it's my role to surround them with different options at school. This listening center will provide them with an independent reading option that they will just LOVE!
