My students love to learn using hands-on reading, writing, and math materials.
I teach a wonderful group of kindergarten students who come from diverse backgrounds and educational experiences.
I have students with speech, academic, and behavior goals as well as English Language Learners in my classroom. For many of my students, this is the first time they have been to school or instructed in English. Some of my kindergarten students begin the year without knowledge of letters, numbers, or how to write their names. They are so eager to learn and quickly gain basic kindergarten skills, such as identifying and writing numbers and letters, counting, and writing their names. My students love to learn using a hands-on approach, where they learn through play. I love to see the excitement of my students when they learn something new!
My Project
I would like a set of headphones to use in my classroom. This year we tried using ear buds with my kindergarten students, but the cords tangle easily and many are broken. These over the ear headphones are durable, student friendly, and will be used every day. My students will use them to listen to stories to build their vocabulary and comprehension. Students will use the headphones for reading games on our iPads to practice reading fundamentals, including phonemic awareness, phonics, and fluency. They will play math games on the iPad to practice counting, number recognition, and addition and subtraction. Thank you for your support!
