I teach the most adorable and energetic group of kindergarten students who come from diverse backgrounds and educational experiences. I have students with speech, academic, and behavior goals as well as English Language Learners in my classroom. For many of my students, this is the first time they have been to school or instructed in English. Some of my kindergarten students begin the year without knowledge of letters, sounds, or even how to hold a book. They are so eager to learn and quickly gain basic reading skills such as letter names, letter sounds, and learning sight words. My students love to look at picture books and read kindergarten level reading books. I love to see their excitement when they pick up a book and realize they can read!
