I teach Early Childhood Special Education for students between the ages 3 and 5 with various disabilities. My students are faced with challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple yet engaging and provide my students with a creative and meaningful learning experiences.
My students are very inquisitive, and they love to learn and interact with a variety of materials.
The majority of my students have delays in speech and/or language.
My goal is to provide my young students with an array of learning experiences by providing interesting and engaging materials and supplies. My students have varied learning styles and abilities. They come from different family environments and struggles. Raising their emotional intelligence will support their educational and personal growth!
From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom, I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hopeful to inspire even our earliest learners.
My Project
Each of these activities will increase engagement during centers. My students require a highly structured environment. These activities provide manipulative's to enhance their learning visually, as well as allowing them to have hands-on experiences. Many of these items will be used during social play, where many of my kids struggle the most. The instant learning centers are also great fine motor activities, and are so important uat this age and having a variety within centers can help my students. The letter recognition center will increase letter and letter sound identification. The math and measurement centers will help increase number recognition measurement, counting and one-to-one correspondence. These centers will allow the children to continue to develop their fine motor muscles and experiment through play.
