We Like to Move It, Move It!

My students need flexible seating that allows them to work comfortably and stay focused. Wobble stools, balance cushions, bouncy bands, and lap desks will give my students the freedom to work around our entire classroom.

My Students

Teaching second grade is my passion. I teach 25 students in a public elementary school. Half of my students are from low income households. Each student has unique gifts and needs, and I seek to meet them where they are academically and socially. Our classroom is a place of learning and love. Fostering a classroom community that cares is as important as teaching academics. I want each of my students to feel cared for in my classroom.

My second graders are curious, inquisitive, and love to learn new things.

They come to school ready to tackle the day. Their enthusiasm is contagious! We work together as a classroom family to make learning fun.

My Project

Children are made to move! Sitting in a desk for long periods of time is difficult, and not conducive to learning. Little brains work best when bodies can stand, wiggle, fidget, and get comfy. My students have a "home base" at their desk, but often times they need to move about the room while working.

These materials will provide my students the freedom to work around our classroom in comfort, while helping them work attentively.

Wobble stools, balance cushions, bouncy bands, and lap desks will give my students the freedom to work around our entire classroom. My second graders will take an active role in choosing their seating placement, giving them ownership in their learning. This project will foster responsibility and help make our classroom community a great place to learn.
